the background picture on my workstation at school had been changed from a picture of my choice to one produced by the now basically defunct r33t.org. I mentioned the site to an a friend of mine whom I met in person but at the time was talking to online, and, to quote him exactly: "Wow, you read r33t??" this same friend later (aproximately a month and a half) asked me if I wanted to be a part of his new creation in the E/N world. (the first one was http://muffin.convicted.net, a site that only he posted at [notice: his nickname is muffin] and the second being http://cyclo.convicted.net, a site where a lot of people post, but unfortunately not to many so far read. [notice: in first month of operation we have 900+ uniques, so not too bad.]) so anyways, here I am, taking a survey about E/N. WHOO HOO!

I used to run my own site, but when I moved to Holland, I had to close it down since it was running in my own box. Now, I am working on some other stuff and I don't really have the time to mantain my own site. If I could find a way to just post without the html burden, I would gladly do it.

I just found a link to badassmofo, and couldn't stop reading. I then started reading the sites linked by badassmofo, and it gently spread.
Started reading the bigger sites (BAMF, Solo, Hearye!), in February or so of 99. Got motivation somehow and decided to open GBATM in March, 1999. Actually one of the older E/N sites, I'm proud to say. I just like how we (E/N) do whatever we want when we want, and aren't bound to rules like the rest of the internet :)

I was always interested in designing websites, I've made a few in the past just for the hell of it. The idea of making a site where my friends and I can post about any random subject just sounded like a neat thing at the time. Though when I started WTF(my site), I didn't know my site would fall into a category called 'E/N.' All I knew about were personal sites and that's what I thought mine was, personal, but with more people. Around the timespan of about Dec.-Feb. is about the time I first discoved the E/N scene. The way I discovered E/N I think is kinda weird. I used to be one of those AoHaCKeRz, using all the aoprogs, doing all the lame AOL crap that got old really fast. Around this time, some ao-celebs had their own websites popping up here and there and I would just go from one site to another just checking them all out for new stuff. Basically they were all the same, Main, Files, Links, Guestbook. Well, I left the AOL scene for a few months and when I came back, I checked some of my favorites that were still in my browser to see what was going on in the good 'ol AOL scene. Well needless to say, 90% of the pages I have put in my favorites had died, though one worked and it was ThreeD(http://threed.hypermart.net). Before my leave of absence, this was just a simple AOLer site with the files and links and the occasional tutorial here and there. When I returned to it, it had a whole different layout than before and it had posted news and referred to itself as 'e/n.' This was interesting to me so I continued to visit the site and read the posts for a few days. Soon after, the site had a button-link to mute300.net and it looked cool so I clicked it and then I finally realized that there was a whole E/N community. Though I didn't find out that E/N meant Everything/Nothing until about a month later. :x

The first E/N site I visited regularly was HongX.net back when it was first beginning (when the domain was actually hongx.net) since I knew honging way back when (not close enough that he'd know who the hell I am now, but enough to know he had a site) but then I didn't know it was part of a 'community'. That probably came when I started reading BAMF. I also made vain attempts to have my own E/Nish site, but both failed miserably when my staffers got bored of posting.

Surfing around, and I stumbled upon a site that was updated frequently and was funny. FOund a link to Stileproject and then got links off his site and I check those sites about 2-3 times a day
A friend of mine emailed me about and told me read a coupla sites he'd found, and I fell in love with it.

October 1998 was the first post on TROZ. Then it was replaced by Shazbot and finally Shafted.org now. TROZ was inspired by Area:S and Kalota.net as well as a replacement for a Quake clan news page that just dropped the Quake part and became a basic e/n page.
