Slate Magazine’s Explainer column
Pete tipped me off about Slate Magazine’s wonderful Explainer column. It’s got some great articles, including:
- Avatar in Spanish, or French, or German: How dubbing works
- If a Siamese Twin Commits Murder, Does His Brother Get Punished Too?
- The Undemocratic People’s Republic of Korea: Why do the most totalitarian countries always have the most democratic-sounding names?
- What Does a Hollywood Producer Do, Exactly? (and the difference between executive, associate, co-, and regular producers)
- World Wad: What would a new global research currency look like?
Plenty more there, so check it out. It reminds me of Patrick Smith’s Ask the Pilot column in Salon, except that it’s for everything.
