Uni standards cut for foreign students
The SMH reports on "the use of our courses by international students, particularly, the Chinese, as an Australian visa application process rather than an educational process". This is not news. (For my uni, at least.)

Last semester I was teaching a first year subject. Not surprisingly, all the international students, for some reason (gee, I wonder what that might be) expected me to go easier on them.
Yeah right.
If they think I’m going to mark English essays or presentations any easier just because it’s not their native language, think again. If you expect to work in a professional environment here, you’re going to be held to the same standards as everyone else. And if that means you fail, so be it.
Hear hear!
