Ivan discusses “top tier” Victorian high schools
There's something weird about pigeon-holing high schools into tiers like that

I’ve often heard that in Melbourne the first question you get is “Which school did you go to?”, whereas in Sydney it’s “Where do you live?” ie. Sydney is more egalitarian in that Sydney people don’t care where you are from, they respect you if you’ve made money, while in Melbourne, the old school ties are still much stronger.
Re: Melbourne and old school ties, I think it’s true to some extent… I confess that I feel a certain kinship with the people I meet who went to my school, even if they are years younger or older than you. I think it’s similar to relatives – you’ve got shared memories, shared reminiscences and so on. Plus often you can say “oh, my friend X went to that school” and it’s a good conversation starter in that sense.
I guess it depends on what you’re used to! :-D
Not to mention that Nazis shouldn’t have an apostrophe. (Unless it’s an abbrev. of “National Socialists” and not the plural of Nazi, which it is here.)
