Tactics Tutorials

Okay - we've got a start! Here's a mail that Khan sent me :

I am available to help out with those tutorial sessions for sure.

How's this for an idea - we make a time of the week - say Sunday afternoons EST. Someone gets on as "War2Coach" and creates a new channel. They sit there, maybe being /away, until they get, say, at least 4 people - or however it works out. Then they start. I would prefer to be a bit anonymous. Don't want everyone to know exactly how I play!

Modementia has said he would be available, possibly even setting up a web page for the scheduling. This idea is great because it will hopefully stop the newbies getting discouraged.

Yours,

Khan

Thanx Khan. I think that this is a good way to do conduct things. I'm not sure of times, but for experimental purposes, I'll think we'll have to try the following method out :

Meet during a timezone - we'll initially try out Sunday Afternoon EST (5-6pm). You'll have this hour to wait until there are enough people, or someone who is willing to tutor.

Tutors should make a channel "OzWL_Tutorials" and send an away message, like "/away I'm an OzWL Tutor - /msg me if you're interested" and other relevant info. If tutors aren't at their computer, then those interested in learning should /msg the tutors. Then you can work it out from there.

Afterwards, if tutors feel like it, they should submit a report of what was done/learnt etc. and when the session was held, who attended etc. etc. These reports will be posted up here.

I'm not sure about bonuses yet - maybe someone can ask Garf, Prowl or Sooth. Or I'll do it eventually.

Time(s) : Sunday Afternoon EST (5-6pm logon time zone)
Venue : MPX Oz - "OzWL Tutorials"

Previous Notice :

Okay. Please keep in mind that this is highly experimental at the current time. This page is aimed at primarily helping newbies get a running start into Warcraft. So, basically, the only people that should be interested in these "lessons" are the new, and those who just want to brush up on their technique and make sure they're doing everything correctly. I imagine that the most important lessons will be on starting up strategies.

How this will be run :

Basically, I will try to set up a timetable. However, due to the craziness of the 'net, and different time zones, etc., the timetable will have to be very flexible. Maybe a timezone into which people log on into MPX and wait for others to turn up. Anyway, I will need a volunteer veteran/expert player to mediate or host these tutorials. If there is demand for this, maybe two mediators a night (for a maximum of 14 "students" :). Anyway, these guys will show everyone else the ropes of playing (most likely with the "on screen" cheat activated). In return, these volunteers would get some points for this duty.

Finally, getting general strategies from prominent players/clan leaders is also a possible result of these sessions - basically a write up of the events/stuff learned. Just email me what happened and I'll post this up. Please keep in mind that if this is popular, I'd appreciate if someone who is on the net more often (like 2-4 times regularly a day or something like that) could take on a bit of work in scheduling tutorials etc.

Anyway, any volunteers? Garfield wants JJJ to host the first one (I'm sure all 150+ members of OzWL do too. They'll all turn up for this one :) hehehe.

E-Mail me if there are any problems.
